Yesterday (January 15) was Dr. Martin Luther King's actual birthday. The national holiday will be observed on January 21.
I think it's fitting to offer a quote from Dr. King:

One from Churchill: "Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few." Perfectly captures the ghastly sacrifices made by the fliers during the Battle of Britain, but could be applied so well in other circumstances, like to the firefighters after 9/11 or those who took huge risks both during and after Katrina.
Ian: Great quote! It's a keeper. These words could very well apply to some American crises involving first responders, such as the ones you mentioned.
