Rich paydays for blogs-turn-books

Some bloggers sign deals with traditional publishers

Could the blogger book craze fizzle from overkill? A Reuters report examines the "wave of hype."

I didn't know that this was happening. I need to step up my game and write better blogs. Never know who is reading...

Rose: I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your readers are very devoted to you.

I believe publishers are not quite wrong to play this card. Whispers of an enourmous sum payed means publicity. News on how a bloggers book is expected to be sold in over a million copies. Well, you don't say! Then let's buy this book and see what it's all about. So there might be quite a strong chance of the phenomenon to persist for a while. It all the depends to how good the books will actually be.

Alina: You make some very valid points. I guess we all will have to stay tuned!

2 months ago I got a comment on my blog from someone claiming to be a publisher favorably impressed with the numerous samples I have posted. When I check out the link it was for an outfit called Moolight Publishers (I think that's it. I can verify if anyone is interested.) I didn't know what to do. I still don't. I just know how to write. Where does someone like me get help?

Xavier: Be careful. There are lots of companies out there who scam aspiring writers. They'll take your money - lots of it - if you let them.

I highly recommend that you network with other writers - not just aspiring writers but those who are published. By the way, some self-published authors are good, but some of them can't write at all. I've seen some hideous manuscripts from self-published writers! To achieve some balance, try to find some writers who are traditionally published.

You can also visit blogs by writers. Georganna Hancock's site is referenced in this post. Check her out. Rose, writer of Lessons Learned, operates a small publishing company and works with authors who are self-published. Both Rose and Georganna do a lot of networking with writers.

Don't just network virtually. Hopefully, you hang out with a group of writers in your own city. You can find support here, plus learn a lot, if you're hooked up with like-minded people.

Good luck, and keep up the great work on your site!

I guess with any trend, there is the danger that too much can be bad.
