Google Calendar makes debut

Internet giant puts more fire under rivals

The top online search engine has launched a new service - Google Calendar. It's a free, Internet-based day planner that allows users to store appointments online, receive reminders about them and share those plans with others. The new service gives Google fuel as it competes against Yahoo and Microsoft's MSN. More from CNET News.com.

Thanks for visiting my site. I work part time for a PR company a lot like yours.

Not sure that the world needs another calendar system.....we just need to use the ones we already have!!

Google was scanning me too. What is up with that?

Dragonflyfilly and Dr. Deb: Hmmm. I'd rather not venture a guess. Let me see what I can learn from some of my techie buddies.

Teresa: You have a GREAT site and a very interesting background. In addition, you have a way of letting people know you care. I encourage folks to check out your blog.

Hello DCS.

Regarding the Google Calendat, most such application do scan computers to figure out what kind of sites you are visiting, so that they can embed Online Ads. And thats the way they make money. I think MSN Messenger does the same thing. So does Kaza and other File Sharing systems like Limewire, Ares, etc.......

So its basically using a free application which in turn makes money by sending Online Ads to you.

I've been trying to figure out if a current website client could use this new calendar service on his website to keep his readers updated on his events -- booksignings, appearances, and such. Now, where did I put that Google API key?

The only Google app that I know of that can scan your computer is Google Desktop (that's its function).
