A Tale of Two Gulfs
Taking a Look at the War in Iraq and the Hurricane Crisis
Which Gulf is bigger? The Persian Gulf or the Gulf of Mexico? Or the growing racial, class, and economic gulfs? The Village Voice attempts to tie it all together in a news analysis.
No. I would not tie the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Mexico and the growing racial, class, and economic (and more) gulfs together. I think we can avoid wars, equally share economic resources and grow beyond class structures where as we can only help to extent as far as natural calamities are concerned.
Shirazi, I wish more people held your view about avoiding wars, sharing economic resources, and growing beyond class. In reality, however, many world leaders do not share your vision.
No, we can never totally plan for natural disasters. But we can have plans in place. And we should respond immediately, without thought to class or ethnicity. At least that is my humble opinion.
Immediate response is so critical in any crisis. And I speak as one who has conducted seminars on crisis management.
We cannot be prepared for everything that comes our way. However, a good leader can respond in an exemplary manner to anything.
I applaud your world vision. Tell me that you will one day be prime minister of your country. :-)
