Charles Gibson, the veteran ABC News anchor, signs off Friday. His easy-going style and command of the evening news anchor seat will be missed by this writer. Gibson has been covering politics for ABC for some 35 years.
Starting Monday, Diane Sawyer will take over as anchor of "World News Tonight." At the end of last night's broadcast, ABC began airing its "World News with Diane Sawyer" promo.

OK, so Katie Couric didn't make any significant waves huh?
Anon: As I see it, Katie Couric has nothing to do with Diane Sawyer. They're two different people on two different networks.
So, Katie anchoring didn't start a trend? Let's suppose that Katie was just another male anchor... How likely would this move with Sawyer be then?
