While I think authors are considerably innovative in finding new outlets, I hate that they have to. It's almost criminal for Paris Hilton, Karrine Steffans, and Ann Coulter to get media validation while people with responsible, prophetic, and sensible platforms don't even get a callback. Speaks to the kind of audiences there are, I suppose.
Andre: It is what it is. Face it, Hilton, Steffans, and Coulter have an audience. A lot of publishing business is about marketing, perseverance, and pure luck.
I think it's great that authors are looking at alternative options. Obviously, podcasting works for some. Others choose self-publishing or e-books.
I recommend that novice authors do their research on alternative publishing methods. There are a lot of companies out there who fleece new authors.
