Authors find alternative to traditional publishing

Publishing and podcasts - the connection

Writers struggling to find a publisher are taking the high-tech, grass-roots approach. Snubbed by traditional publishers, these authors are turning to podcasts to find new audiences.

Interesting idea. Writers and other artists will always find ways of getting their work seen or heard. It's a great way of not giving up your dreams and not depending on people who might annoy you or make you feel uncomfortable at times.

Alina: I agree. I enjoy hearing about innovative ways of using technology. It's making me think about podcasting. :-)

Well, I would choose to publish parts of my work on my blog. But record it, not really. I don't like my recorded voice that much :P

Thanks for this info dear Deb. I have toyed with this route but have never approached it really seriously. I appreciate the links and will explore it in more depth. Could give me a few answers to some of my publishing doldrums.

Alina: I'm my harshest critic when it comes to my voice, and I used to be a broadcaster!

Ian: We definitely don't want you in the publishing doldrums. If you ever make a decision to move forward on this, you'll have to let us know!

Thanks for this info deb. It's inspired me to think about ways of going a similar route.

i feel like i'm a dinosaur (ancient) when it comes to ipods or new tech thingies like that, but i guess any kind or style or means of communicating is good when used for good purposes. And of course, I'm sure lots of people will look forward to hearing from you any way possible. kudos to the IT geniuses and kudos to good writers like you! (hope things are doing ok on your end sis, we miss you!)

Okay Deb if I do the podcast would you read? You have the best radio voice I've heard.

Malik: Glad to help. I really think you should consider podcasting. You're a very progressive thinker and a technology whiz. I would listen to your podcasts!

AsianSmiles! I like using an exclamation mark as part of your name. :-)
You're no more a dinosaur than I am.
I've been considering podcasting. I'm fortunate enough to have a son who loves IT stuff. For all of my technology questions, in fact, I go to my kids.

The challenge, however, is getting my son to take the time to set me up for podcasting. He has the nerve to have a life. LOL

Seriously, though, I've been thinking on whether or not I'd make a difference in the blogosphere by doing podcasts. It is a tempting thought. In a former life, I worked in radio, and I loved it.

Rose: You are so kind. You are such a creative writer, I think you should read your writings yourself! I think your passion would really, really come through.

I love the blog that you have. I was wondering if you would link my blog to yours and in return I would do the same for your blog. If you want to, my site name is American Legends and the URL is:

www.americanlegends.info

If you want to do this just go to my blog and in one of the comments just write your blog name and the URL and I will add it to my site.

Thanks,
David

I recently signed with a literary agent and I was so exhausted by the "traditional" process. I am grateful that it worked out, but the process was very time consuming and emotionally fatiguing. I think anything one can do to call attention to their creative work is awesome. . .and if technology can help, why not?

Dr. Deb: I'm thrilled that you've signed with a literary agent! Once your book is published, you can produce that podcast. :-)
Keep us posted.
