Computing dangerously

Internet scam artists wreak havoc in 2006

In October alone, more than 90 percent of all e-mail sent online was unsolicited junk mail. The year 2006 will be remembered for the spike in spam and insidious cyber crime, both of which are linked. Computer security professionals are working around the clock in an effort to keep up with cyber thugs, as the Washington Post reports.

Interesting topic. I had to write an article on spam prevention methods about a week ago. So I did some research. It is predicted that by 2009, 77% of all sent emails will be spam. On a daily basis, we will have over 200 billion spam messages.

Sad, especially since people still treat spam messages the wrong way. Just delete them, permanently. No clicking on the unsubscribe link! :)

Alina: Definitely no clicking on the unsubscribe link.
BTW, the figures you quote on spam are mind-boggling!

Hello Deb

Spam is contagious. I learnt the hard way not to click on links I am not familiar with. Lost approx. two harddrives to those monsters.
Thanks for the reminder that I will need to update my antivirus program in a very short while.

May all your dreams come true in 2007 and all the best in health, wealth and success in whatever you do.
