Game on!

Get ready for gee-whiz technology

Gamers weathered rain and long lines, awaiting the debut of PlayStation 3. In Manhattan, the frenzy prompted some PS3 fans to wait in line for two or three days. Sony's "next-generation" console (left) went on sale at midnight. Details from the Washington Post.

At the same time, gamers are taking a serious look at Nintendo's Wii, which could offer some stiff competition when it debuts November 19. Nintendo promises eye-popping graphics and a cost that's easier on the pocketbook.

Consumers worldwide spent nearly $150 billion on interactive entertainment from 2001 to 2006. With that much money at stake, Microsoft's year-old Xbox 360 is taking nothing for granted.

I've never liked PlayStation or other such devices. I agree with occasionally playing games on your computer (as you can clearly use it for other tasks as well), but paying fortunes just to play games, that I really could never comprehand.

No, but I would like to own a play station like this.

This is such a waste of money to me. I heard that folks are fighting in line and shooting at each other for this. One is even selling on ebay for 9000. Shame!

Whatever happened to the simpler pleasures in life, eh?

Oh well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. lol Let the games begin.

I have never been able to figure out the attraction of paying hundreds of dollars to play games with PlayStation, Wii, or Xbox. Everything I do on my computer (blogging, commenting, etc.) is basically playing games but I do it for a lot less cost.
