Pinoy Christmas

Holiday celebrations in the Filipino tradition

I always enjoy visiting AsianSmiles. She is on my "A" list when it comes to writing about culture. When I came across her recent post, "A Pinoy Christmas," I was instantly intrigued, especially when my Filipina buddy made this declaration:

Allow me to make an unofficial, unstudied but undisputed announcement – Filipinos have the longest Christmas celebration in the world.
Using a bit of humor, AsianSmiles writes a charming post about holiday tradition. Her post also carries a link to a website with some beautiful Christmas images, such as the Filipino star lantern pictured above. If you're game for a colorful look at Christmas according our Filipino friends, click here.

LOLss!

Let me first thank you Sis for the cross-post! I'm really glad you enjoyed the "article". (I've been preparing a comment in one of your post re: Immigration. I really feel so strongly abt it so I'm letting the 'emotions' die down before I post anything :) )

About the blogroll, allow me to respond to Bob, Sis :)

I did not delete the other blog addy (Education by SisTrunk) for a 'continental and sentimental' reasons, lol.

There are some posts there that aren't found here. Also, that page is close to Sis DCS' heart and so I decided not to delete it in my blog roll. :)

Maligayang Pasko!

Bob: So there! LOL!
I agree with you about our sister's site. There is quite a bit of interesting material there.

AsianSmiles, I understand about the immigration post. Comment when you're ready.

Hasan: AsianSmiles is a doll, isn't she? Thanks for stopping by.

Wow! Thanks for featuring a fellow Filipino's post in here. It absolutely makes my eyes mist over....the fact that I have been away for the past 6 Christmases already.

We DO value and treasure Christmas celebrations in the Philippines. Everyone's lovelier, happier, more forgiving, more loving....and at the end, with more pounds from all the food that gets passed around in every street and household!

Cecilia: Thanks for your comments on this post. I love featuring AsianSmiles. I also enjoy learning about the Filipino culture. It is so rich! Perhaps one day I'll get to travel to the Philippines.

It's too bad that you've been away from home for six Christmases. I hope you make it home for the holidays in 2006. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
