C'mon, baby, light my brain cells

Internet dating marries anthropology - maybe

Researcher Helen Fisher says we're hardwired to be attracted to certain people. An e-dating site is putting her theories to the test. Fisher believes that the type of person we are attracted to is linked to our neurons, etched by a combination of hormones, brain chemicals, and childhood experiences. So what does that have to do with online dating? You be the judge. Check out this story at BusinessWeek Online.

I dated a person I met on the internet...We went out a couple of times, even got physical, no chemistry though. I have some acquaintances that I have met on the internet, never seen in person. We send each other e-mails, talk on the phone, If something happens, they're usually the first person I call. We have relationship, real chemistry Couldn't tell you what makes us "click" though..

Rose, when you go home tonight, tell your husband, "C'mon, baby, light my brain cells." LOL

Stan, since you have personal experience, you can write the follow-up piece on this topic. So when can I expect the article? :-)

The only thing I hate about this story is that I keep hearing the lyrics to the song of another era: "Light My Fire" by Jose Feliciano.

That song was the inspiration for the headline. I love the song. But I hate it when lyrics keep ringing in my head. (sigh) But at least it has a nice melody.

Helen E. Fisher (I respect her as a very capable writer) may be right about so may thing “in love, marriage, and gender differences” but when it comes to lightning my brain cells, no rules. No rules. Are there any? I thought it differes from heart to heart.

BTW, there is a myth in our part of the world about the assertion about “index fingers linked to the sex hormones” in last para. Almost similar, though no scientific proof so far.
