The magic of diamonds

My husband and I are about to celebrate our second Christmas together. We're looking forward to reliving some beautiful memories. One of those memories was going to the jewelry store to look at engagement rings.

I had been single for most of my adult life. I've seen women who were so giddy and excited about their rings. I even told my guy that he didn't have to get me a ring to mark our engagement. I told him that we could simply look at wedding bands. My guy, however, has other ideas.

He proclaimed that "you're really not engaged until you have a ring." With that, he marched me to a jewelry store where we looked at bridal sets that included diamond wedding bands. I was like a kid in a candy store!

It took me a while to pick my rings. At first, I was nervous. All of the sets looked so beautiful. Being the practical person that I am, and not wanting to spend of all my guy's money, I asked my new fiance about his budget. Then I checked out the pricing. It took me a while to make a final decision. I chose the perfect set.

The ring had to be sized. My fiance and I lived in different cities, and he insisted on flying out to me to bring me the ring. When he placed the engagement ring on my finger, it was a moment I'll never forget. I never truly understood the saying "diamonds are a girl's best friend" until I had my own.
